Cultivation
Our beloved homeland, with its four distinct climates, is home to numerous valuable medicinal plant species, with over 100 significant varieties suitable for cultivation and development. For several years now, the alarm of a severe water shortage has been sounding across the country. Many experts have warned about the depletion of groundwater reserves, inefficient water use, and increasing salinity due to excessive consumption and the cultivation of economically unsustainable, high-water-demand crops in water-scarce provinces. They have repeatedly cautioned that the continuation of this trend will cause irreparable damage to farmers and the national economy as a whole. Consequently, as a means of reducing water consumption in agriculture, experts have proposed a plan to replace water-intensive crops with medicinal plants.
Iranian Aloe Vera Industries has implemented the development of Aloe vera cultivation in two sectors.
In the first phase, the cultivation of this plant is being carried out in the province of Khuzestan, which is owned by this company.
In the second phase, cultivation is based on contracts in collaboration with esteemed farmers in various provinces, as detailed below.
Aloe vera medicinal plant cultivation development plan
The development plan for cultivating the medicinal Aloe Vera plant in open fields, between trees, and in greenhouses is recommended due to the drought phenomenon, as this medicinal plant requires low water consumption. It is emphasized to replace the cultivation of water-intensive crops such as watermelon, lettuce, and wheat with Aloe Vera.
